The government of India has announced the locations in each of the state where the PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (PM MITRA) textile parks will be situated. These parks, each spanning 1,000 acres or more, will put their respective locations on the global map. Major textile industries will have the opportunity to develop extensive facilities to make textile products in these upcoming parks.

Tamil Nadu’s textile park will come up in the Virudhunagar district. State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Ltd (SIPCOT) has already acquired over 1,500 acres of land for the park in the Kumaralingapuram village in the district.

Warangal’s Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Telangana is expected to get additional funding under this scheme. Spread over 1,200 acres, KMTP will be developed to cover the textile and apparel value chain. KMTP has already attracted some marquee investments by companies such as Kerala's Kitex Group, which manufactures children’s apparel.

Another textile park will be established in Kalaburagi district in Karnataka. The government of Karnataka has already earmarked 1,550 acres of land in Firozabad, Nadisinnur and Kiranagi villages in the district.

Maharashtra chief minister Eknath Shinde has thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the mega textile park project in the state. The park will come up on 1,100-1,200 acres of land, Shinde said, but the location has not been disclosed yet.

Navsari district of Gujarat will also get a textile park. The state government is acquiring 2,383 acres of land for the project. Of the total area of this mega park, 50 per cent will be used for manufacturing activities and the rest will be utilised for support facilities and research and training.

The textile park of Madhya Pradesh will come up in the Dhar district. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said in a tweet, “With this, the textiles of Madhya Pradesh having unique heritage of Chanderi and Maheshwari sarees will get new expansion and configuration.” (Translated from Hindi)

Uttar Pradesh government has assigned 1,000 acres of land in Lucknow and Hardoi districts to set up the textile park. The region in eastern UP is famous for many traditional garments.

The central government had received 18 proposals for PM MITRA parks from 13 states.
