Resul Rejepov is new Turkmen textile minister

Resul Shihdurdyyevich Rejepov has been appointed as the new minister of textile industry of Turkmenistan, by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The President has also relieved deputy minister of textile industry Ogulhajat Amanmyradovna Ishangulyyeva of her duties as interim minister of textile industry, according to Turkmen media reports.
 
Cotton is the main cash crop of Turkmen agriculture and one of the main exports of the country, second only to energy resources.
 
The Central Asian country produces around 1 million tons of cotton annually. Mary, Lebap, Dashoguz and Ahal are major cotton growing provinces in the country.
 
Around 70 per cent of the harvested cotton is process within the country. The textile industry in Turkmenistan produces yarn, and woven and knitted garments. Some companies also produce home textiles, sportswear and denims for companies like Ikea, Puma, Lidl, Walmart, River Island, Cosco, and Bershka. (RKS)
