In April 2023, Turkiye’s annual rate of change for retail turnover in the textiles, clothing, and footwear sector saw a remarkable increase of 97.4 per cent. On a monthly basis, this sector also witnessed a substantial rise, with turnover growing by 9.0 per cent, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) said in a press release.
The data also revealed a monthly growth of 0.9 per cent in April 2023 when compared with March 2023. The country’s non-food sales (except automotive fuel) led this monthly growth with a 1.9 per cent increase. However, automotive fuel sales experienced a slight dip, falling by 1.5 per cent.
Turning to retail turnover, there was a dramatic 82.3 per cent increase in April 2023 compared to the same month in the previous year. Non-food sales (excluding automotive fuel) demonstrated the strongest growth with an increase of 104.5 per cent and automotive fuel sales increased by 16.7 per cent.
On a monthly basis, retail turnover increased by 3.4 per cent in April 2023 compared with the previous month. The largest monthly increase was seen in non-food sales (except automotive fuel), which grew by 5.1 per cent. However, similar to retail volume sales, automotive fuel sales experienced a decrease in turnover, falling by 2.3 per cent.
