Rs 25.7 bn for Pak textile sector under PM package phase I
The Pakistani Government allocated Rs 25.7 billion to the textile sector under the first phase of Prime Minister’s Trade Enhancement Package that ended on June 30, according to senior officials of the ministry of commerce and textile. In first two months of Phase II, i.e., from July 1 to August 31, Rs 2.6 billion was disbursed to the sector.

The ministry had assured payments to the textile sector under the package by February 2019 to enhance exports, according to Pakistani media reports.

The government had also relaxed norms for import of textile machinery for modernisation of the industry and enhance its capacity. (DS)
