In 2019, SGS continued to perform well against its Operational Integrity targets, with a 57 per cent reduction in its Lost Time Incident Rate and a 60 per cent reduction in its Total Recordable Incident Rate since 2014. Its natural turnover remained on target and it continued to make gradual progress towards its goal to have 30 per cent of leadership positions held by women. It is also progressing well towards its Science Based Targets, with a 22 per cent decrease of total greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions since 2014.
Beyond its defined goals, as signatories of the RE100, SGS has increased its renewable electricity investment, maintained its Carbon Neutral status and has began working with the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures. A great deal of work has already gone into planning its new Sustainability Ambitions, which will be launched in 2020 ready for 2021.
“Sustainability is part of our DNA. We believe we are well equipped to manage our business in times of crisis. Our management teams are dealing with the ever-changing landscape with a calm, steady hand, controlling what we can in the immediate future and ensuring we are well placed to take full advantage of what we are confident will be a robust recovery,” said Peter Kalantzis, chairman of the board and Frankie NG, chief executive officer of SGS.
SGS is active in virtually all sectors of the economy. It provides a wide range of inspection, verification, testing and certification services across all stages of the value chain.
