Spanish sportswear brand, Ternua, has used recycled textiles in 90 per cent of its Adrenalite SS 22 clothing line. The brand’s innovation team has done a great job on the line focused on high aerobic intensity activities like trail running, e-biking, and light hiking, where lightness, transpirability, versatility, and compatibility are important factors.

The Adrenalite line is a highly technical line focused on high aerobic intensity activities like trail running, e-biking, and light hiking. Recycled textiles are used in 90 per cent of the clothing in the line and their high degree of technicity is maintained. Since the brand created this product line in 2015, they’ve been adding new highly functional, highly technical textiles and treatments that, following their roadmap of sustainable innovation, are environmentally friendly, the company said in a media statement.

The Adrenalite line has light, versatile, compactible, and very comfortable garments that are developed to boost agility in activities and enable quick changes in movement, which include t-shirts and jackets to leggings, pants, and shorts or bermudas. In the Spring/Summer 2022 collection, the recycled textile chosen for the Adrenalite line is, on one hand, the Dryshell Breathe, which provides a high degree of transpirability that carries sweat outside quickly so your skin stays dry at all times. On the other hand, it includes the Warmshell textile that helps maintain warmth without increasing weight and provides high transpirability and quick drying, in addition to high durability.

Another textile used in the collection is Microshell, which is ultra-lightweight, highly transpirable, and blocks the wind. Lastly, another recycled textile used in this line is the StormFleece Pro. It’s one of the most innovative textiles on the market and Ternua has been using it for several seasons because it provides a lot of protection from the wind and rain, it's highly transpirable and doesn’t have a membrane. All these textiles come from recycling post-consumer plastic bottles. They are combined with the natural S-Café treatment, which comes from recycled coffee grounds that, in addition to controlling odours, also protects against UV rays and are fast drying, according to Ternua.

All the products in the SS 2022 Adrenalite line have the Ternua commitment label. They are manufactured with recycled or natural biodegradable materials, organic cotton, or with Bluesign certified textiles. The water repellent treatment used on the garments is PFC free, which means it doesn’t contain any substances that are toxic for the environment.
