Leading cotton exporter Uzbekistan recently sent a high-level delegation to the Chinese-invested Gwadar Port in Pakistan to explore logistics opportunities to export its cotton. The 16-member delegation led by vice minister of railways Akmal Kamalov and ambassador to Pakistan Oybek Arif Usmanov visited the port, according to the China Overseas Ports Holding Co, the port’s operator.

The delegation discussed regional connectivity and the possibility of building and investing in a logistics park at the Gwadar free trade area, according to a top Chinese newspaper.

On a Chinese social media account, Zhang Baozhong, chairman of China Overseas Ports Holding Co, noted that Uzbekistan is pushing for a diplomatic move among Central Asian countries, including top-level diplomatic visits to Tajikistan and Turkmenistan, for a southbound logistics corridor via the Gwadar Port.
