The value of cotton, yarn and fabrics imports by Vietnam in the first four months of the current year increased by 21.14 per cent to $6.262 billion over imports of $5.169 billion in the same period of last year, according to the preliminary data released by the customs IT & statistics department of the general department of customs, ministry of finance.Category-wise, the Southeast Asian nation imported 576,339 tons of cotton and 407,619 tons of yarn, valued at $995.962 million and $875.104 million, respectively, during the four-month period under review.
Fabric imports during January-April 2021 were valued at $4.390 billion. Of this, China alone supplied $2.685 billion of cloth, followed by South Korea and Japan with $558.380 million and $210.808 million respectively.

Last year, Vietnam's cotton, yarn and fabric imports together totalled $16.156 billion. Of this, $2.282 billion was spent on cotton, $1.998 billion on yarn, and $11.875 billion on buying fabrics.
