In northern Xinjiang, over 90 per cent of cotton fields have adopted mechanised cultivation, as per the department of agriculture and rural affairs of Xinjiang. In southern Xinjiang too, the mechanisation rate of cotton harvesting in increasing every year.
For the last 25 consecutive years, Xinjiang has stood first in China's total cotton output, yield and planting area.
