Vardhman Textiles, India-based integrated textile producer, under its initiatives towards promoting education, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Foundation for Life Sciences & Business Management (FLSBM) to set up a state-of-the-art nano-technology lab at Shoolini University of Biotechnology and Management Sciences in Himachal Pradesh.

The MoU was signed by prof Prem Khosla, chancellor, Shoolini University and Praful Anubhai Patel, head-CSR, Vardhman Textiles, in the presence of Vardhman Group chairman and managing director SP Oswal.

Under the agreement, Vardhman shall be providing Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM)/Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FE-SEM) equipment. The new lab will be instrumental in helping the university upgrade the skill-sets of students including the UG/PG/Doctoral programme and will play a pivotal role in working on subjects like cancer biology, biotechnology, food technology, photo-catalysis, water purification, etc.

Vardhman shall be contributing a sum of ₹3 crore to the project. By putting nano-materials and techniques to use in the lab, Shoolini University aims to work for environmental detoxification, clean energy production and waste utilisation. Once set up, the lab will not only provide greater efficiency in research but also allow students to put their knowledge into practice faster.

Vardhman always strives to make constructive and positive contribution to the society. The endeavours to improve the infrastructure of educational institutions stands a testimonial to the organisation’s genuine desire to ensure sustainable growth,” said prof Khosla, while acknowledging the help and support offered by the Group.

Patel said that the Group is committed to holistic development and considers education and quality healthcare facilities as essentials. He added, “With sustainable development as our goal, we find it a privilege to be able to give back. As a responsible corporate citizen, we willingly contribute to social cause and participate in the development of communities that host us.”
