Cotton Development Organisation announced that the Uganda's cotton sector recovers during 2004/05 fiscal year with output raise to 250,000 bales from the last year's output to 160,000 bales.
CDO's Managing Director, Jolly Sabune informed that the enhanced yields by advanced input with hold up from ginners anticipates that the country will produce 500,000 bales per year within two-years.
Uganda exports over 93 percent of lint produced with revenues likely to attain $32.56 million in the year 2004/05.
CDO conducted a meeting with ginners, where it proposed involvement at farm level to enhance output. The ginners granted, but requested for the country to be zoned for production and marketing and ginning of cotton to protect investment injected into specific zones.
