Enviroclothes plans expansion in UK

After a successful experiment with its consumers, Enviroclothes, a North East England-based recycler of unwanted clothes and textiles, has resolved to spread the reach of its services across the UK.

The company is setting up a new drop off point at a North Tyneside Retail Park, where people can conveniently deposit their unused textiles and garments, which are then recycled by the firm.

This will be the firm's seventh permanent drop-off point and will generate two full-time employment opportunities.

The service is being offered by td clothing Ltd, which since last year had set up six trial drop-off points all through the north east region.

The intention was to curb unwanted clothing from getting land filled by offering a place for people to discard them.

For over last two years, td clothing has gathered more than 1,700 tons of discarded clothing by means of its free home collection service and of late, even by means of drop-off points.

People who deposit their belongings for recycling are offered cash rewards and the company pays around five pounds for two bags of textiles weighing 12.5 kg.

Besides adults and kids garments, enviroclothes accepts goods like shoes, handbags, bedding covers, bags, belts, towels, soft toys and curtains.
