Index of import prices improve 5.5% over previous year

Federal Statistical Office of Germany declares, in March 2006, the index of import prices rose by 5.5 percent from the corresponding month of the preceding year.
In February and in January 2006 the annual rate of change was +6.4 percent and +6.8 percent, respectively.
The index of import prices, excluding crude oil and mineral oil products, was 3.2 percent above the level of March 2005.
From February to March 2006 the index of import prices rose by 0.5 percent.
The index of export prices increased 1.9 percent in March 2006 from the corresponding month of the preceding year.
In February and in January 2006 the annual rate of change was +1.9 percent and +1.8 percent, respectively. From February to March 2006 the index rose by 0.3 percent.
