Textile ministry to merge two key textile schemes to accelerate development

The Ministry of Textiles is planning to two existing infrastructure development schemes viz., Textile Centres Infrastructure Development Scheme (TCIDS) and Apparel Parks for Export (APE) Scheme to enhance overall development of production facilities in the textile industry.

Top officials informed in the Government, informed that the Mr. Shankersinh Vaghela, Union Textile Minister is eager to combine the two leading plans to make one new scheme, mainly in the post MFA era in global trade in textiles and clothing, which demands to raise output from the local industry.

The Ministry of Textiles has move toward Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) to act as a key agency to develop 20 to 25 known clusters across the country where it could organize textile units - weaving, processing and garmenting- to produce world-class material at optimal production level, as per sources.

The Ministry of Textiles would raise Rs 600 crore investment, in the coming three years, to develop the known clusters to accelerate capital for development of infrastructure facilities.
