Sixth annual Knowledge Economy Forum in UK

For many countries in Europe and Central Asia (ECA), the ability to acquire and use knowledge to innovate can mean the difference between prosperity and stagnation. Most governments in the region, however, tend to overlook the two-way relationship between the absorption of knowledge and innovation.

Instead, countries concentrate their science and technology policies largely on innovation. By not servicing the need of private enterprises to first develop absorptive capacity, government policies largely fail to create the foundation for innovation in the long term.

The sixth annual Knowledge Economy Forum, which takes place in Cambridge, UK on April 17-19, will discuss the critical elements to enhance the absorption of technology and knowledge by firms, and explore the policy recommendations that support such processes in the Europe and Central Asia region.

Cambridge's experience as one of the world's leading hubs for academic excellence and enterprise innovation will provide important insights on how regional governments may facilitate stronger linkages between universities and industry, and support the enabling environment for better absorption of knowledge and technology at the firm-level.

You are invited to a press conference on Tuesday, April 17 at 9.00 am where representatives of the University of Cambridge, the Judge Business School, and the World Bank will discuss the importance of government support for improving skills, training, and technology absorption in Europe and Central Asia.

Panelists:
