Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has planned to employ fashion-designers to bring in modern designs, patterns and colours in fabrics and garments which the youth may find trendy. The Commission has also decided to refurbish over 7,000 outlets.
KVIC aims to modernise and strengthen its production and marketing arms by employing trained labour and salesman to present the hand-woven, hand-spun fabric in a new light to its customers.
Commission has launched initiative for 'Product Development, Design Intervention and Packaging' (PRODIP) to help improve the quality and design of Khadi and Village Industries Products which has started showing desired results.
KVIC intends to shift the customers' attention from polyester to khadi the natural, easy-to-wear fabric that is far more comfortable.
In the next two years, KVIC hopes to generate 20 lakh jobs in the country.
