CRI hosts seminar on CO2 emissions implications for carpet industry

June 27, 2007, Northwest Georgia Convention and Trade Center, 12:30 - 5 p.m. The program will provide a diverse and comprehensive look at the public policy driving CO2 issue, a look at how we can use other experience in SO2 trading to understand where how we can move into a CO2 trading program.

The program will highlight the role of emission trading in the corporate strategy development and it value to corporations. You will hear from an expert on the current Chicago Climate Exchange. The program will wrap up with a panel discussion where attendees can ask questions.

Moderator - Steve Bradfield, VP, Environmental Marketing Development and Chair of the CRI Sustainable Issues Management Committee

Liz Burdock - VP Dutko Worldwide will speak about the latest legislative developments at the federal and state levels on climate change specifically federal cap and trade legislative proposals; AB32 and REGI. She will provide the public policy context for why and how various solutions and proposals are being developed.

Gary Hart - Consultant on CO2 emission trading and the architect of the Southern Company's SO2 trading program. Following Liz Burdock's setting the public policy stage, he take the audience "back to the future" and provide the background on the successful SO2 program discussing establishment of a baseline, allocation vs auction, and than relate how his experience in SO2 trading will translate to a domestic CO2 program.

Duncan Nobel of Five Winds Consulting will tie things together by discussing the role of emissions trading in Corporate Climate Change Strategy. The goal of this session is to provide some guidance on when to pursue emissions trading and how it fits into some of the other key elements of a robust corporate climate change strategy.
