ACSA 83rd Annual Convention a success

ACSA's 83rd Annual Convention this year was held at the Four Seasons Resort and Club Dallas at Las Colinas on 24 to 26 May. The President and the Director General of the ICA joined around 200 other delegates.

The President and Director General were just a selection of speakers from other organisations such as the International Cotton Advisory Committee.

Other speakers included the Under Secretary for the United States Department of Agriculture Dr. Mark Keenum. Presentations covered a number of topics including; U.S Farm Bill, Trade with China, Cotton Prices, Future Demand for Fibers, Commodities and Logistics.

During the Foreign Affairs Committee meeting the President outlined the salient features of the ICA new membership structure, encouraging support for the ICA in introducing a more equitable fee structure, which is designed to distribute costs equally across the membership categories.

The Director General was given an opportunity to promote the ICA Stage One Arbitration Foundation Course and examinations. A number of candidates took the examination during the convention.

Also, during the Convention an informal meeting took place with the representatives of CICCA associations that were present, under the guidance of CICCA Chairman Hilton Lobb.

The meeting followed topics raised previously in Bremen in preparation for the discussions to take place at the CICCA Plenary Meeting in Liverpool during October 2007.
