Addressing the First Export Merit Trophy Award ceremony of the Pakistan Textile Exporters Association (PTEA) on November 5, Mohammadmian Soomro, Prime Minister of the country appreciated the efforts and contribution made by domestic businessmen and industrialists.
Mr Soomro, assured that adequate measures will be taken by the caretaker Government to bring solutions to the existing crisis in the textile industry. He also acknowledged the fact that Pakistan economy has grown immensely from the time of its origin when it virtually had nothing. Today it is recognized as one of the rapidly developing countries in South Asia.
The Prime Minister also agreed to the fact that the textile industry is the backbone of the country and with rising oil prices it is becoming difficult to sustain the sector. However, the PM promised to bring the authorities into action and take initiatives to keep the stakeholders at an advantage.
Currently, the Textile Ministry of Pakistan has been joined by an expert industrialist and with cooperative guidance; efforts will be made to breathe life into the waning industry. Apart from this, PTEA officials claimed to have made the largest contribution of 60 percent to the sector and demanded an export center in Faisalabad.
