Review of price indices; woolen/cloths prices up in CPI

November over previous month: The inflation rates based on CPI, SPI & WPI in November, 2007 increased by 0.14%, 0.85% and 1.63% and 1.82% over October, 2007 respectively. During November, 2006, CPI & SPI increased by 0.73%, 2.34% and 0.89 over October, 2006 respectively. However, CPI, SPI & WPI in November, 2005 increased by 0.76%, 0.88% and 0.18% over October, 2005 respectively.
Consumer Price Index (CPI): The Consumer Price Index during the month of November, 2007 increased by 0.14% over October, 2007 and increased by 8.67% over corresponding month of last year.
The main commodities, which showed an increase in their prices during November 2007 over October, 2007 are as under:-
• Cleaning, laundry & personal appearance:- Jewellery (8.60%) and watches (2.98%).
Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI):- During five weeks of November, 2007, Sensitive Price Indicator increased at an average of 0.85% over October, 2007.
Wholesale Price Index (WPI):- The wholesale price index during November, 2007 increased by 1.63% over October, 2007, it increased by 12.63% over the corresponding month of last year.
The main commodities which showed an increase in their prices in November 2007 over October 2007 are as under:-
• Raw materials: Cotton seeds (10.59%), cotton (8.55%), mustard/rapeseeds (4.78%), skins (1.26%) and wool (0.92%).
