During the current fortnight, the cotton lint prices retained a firm trend with narrow fluctuations both in medium and long staple cotton, with strong support of export enquiries.
Domestic Mills are buying in limited quantities as they continue to be facing problems like slow movement of yarn/finished goods and rupee appreciation.
Harvesting and Ginning is progressing well in all the cotton tracts where season is in full swing.
The total arrivals have been placed around 95 lakh bales so far as per trade sources. SICA has organised the third lecture of Shri G.K.Sundaram Endowment lecture series at 10 a.m on 10-01-2008.
Dr.M.S.Swaminathan F.R.S, Chairman, M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation, Chennai will deliver this lecture on the topic "Empowerment of Farmers in the prevailing economic scenario".
