The Committee of the Confederation of Indian Textile Industry (CITI) at its meeting held on September 25, 2008 unanimously elected Shri R.K. Dalmia as Chairman, Shri Shishir Jaipuria as Deputy Chairman and Shri S.V. Arumugam as Vice Chairman of CITI for the year 2008-09.
Mr. Rajendra Kumar Dalmia is the President of Century Textiles - a division of Century Textiles & Industries Ltd., Mumbai. He started his career with the Birla Organisation in The Technological Institute of Textiles and Sciences, Bhiwani (Haryana) in 1978 as Vice-President and rose to the position of President in 1983.
In 1985 he was transferred to Century Textiles, Bombay, which is the largest single composite mill in the country, running on cent percent cotton and exporting over 60% of its production of fabrics to the global markets. For its overall performance, Century Textiles has been adjudged as the International Textile Mill of the Year 1990 by the Textile Horizons published by The Textile Institute, Manchester, UK Mr. Dalmia took the responsibility and succeeded in setting up two new state-of-the-art 100% E.O.Us of Century Textiles viz. Century Yarn and Century Denim at Satrati, near Indore.
Mr. Dalmia has been awarded with the certificate 'Fellow of The Textile Institute' (CText FTI) by The Textile Institute, Manchester, UK. in 1998.
Shri Shishir Jaipuria (51 years) M. Com., L.L.B. is an eminent Industrialist having more than 22 years of experience in managing companies. Presently having interest in Textiles and Education.
He is Managing Director of Ginni Filaments Ltd., a 100% Export Oriented Unit, producing combed cotton yarn and knit fabric from state of the art imported machines. The turnover of the Company for the year 2006 – 07 was Rs.227 Crores. The company has embarked upon massive expansion plan and it is targeted to achieve a turnover of Rs.480 Crores by 2007-08. It has also commissioned a state of the art non-woven and converting plant.
Presently he is Chairman, U.P. Committee, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Deputy Chairman of Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) and Alternate President of Confederation of Export Units (CEU).
He is also Vice-President of Seth Anandram Jaipuria Education Society, which is involved in imparting quality education through its Schools located at Kanpur and Ghaziabad, Management Institute at Ghaziabad providing professional and vocational education with a combined strength of about 4000 students. He is also associated with various Societies, Trusts rendering philanthropic activities namely – Hospital, Guest-Houses at Hardwar, Vrindavan and Chitrakoot.
Shri Jaipuria is actively involved with the activities of various premier business associations such as Northern India Textile Mills' Association (NITMA), Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI).
Mr. S. V. Arumugam, (59 years) is a Chartered Accountant. He is the Managing Director of Bannari Amman Spinning Mills Ltd., Coimbatore which is major producer and exporter of cotton yarn. He is also a Director in Bannari Amman Sugars Ltd., Coimbatore and Shiva Texyarn Ltd., Coimbatore. Shri Arumugam is a Trustee in Bannari Amman Educational Trust, Sathyamangalam and Honorary Secretary of Indian Wind Power Association, Chennai. He is a Past Chairman of SIMA, Coimbatore and Confederation of Indian Industry, Coimbatore Zone.
