NTA Government Textiles Committee adopts statement of objectives

The Government Textiles Committee of the National Textile Association has adopted the following statement of Objectives.

The objectives of the National Textile Association Government Textiles Committee are to:

A. Work with various public and private agencies, members of Congress and the Administration on matters related to the procurement of textiles and textile products by U.S. government agencies,

B. Identify and suggest ways to improve government business practices regarding textiles and textile procurement,

C. Maintain a liaison with all services of the Department of Defense (DoD), and related branches of the government to support their supply needs in an effective and timely manner.

D. Assist the government in updating specifications, purchase documents, test methods and other technical issues,

E. Work to maintain the Berry Amendment and its “Buy American” provisions for DoD procurements,

F. Maintain relationships with the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Postal Service, Javits-Wagner-O'Day (JWOD) Program organizations and other federal and state agencies that have interests in clothing and textiles,

G. Work to develop opportunities for supplying textiles and textile products to foreign governments and agencies, when appropriate.
