Central Statistics Office Ireland released the External Trade details for August 2005 and September 2005 (First estimate).
Seasonally adjusted merchandise trade for September 2005 (preliminary) shows exports decreased by 5 percent to €7,320m relative to August 2005 while imports decreased slightly to €4,661m.
Relative to July 2005, exports for August increased by 9 percent to €7,677m and imports increased by 5 percent to €4,672m.
However, the unadjusted exports for September 2005 (preliminary), when compared with the same month in the previous year increased by €550m (+8 percent) to €7,847m while August increased by €415m (+7 percent) to €6,696m.
Similarly, the year-on-year imports for September increased by €194m (+5 percent) to €4,493m and August increased by €280m (+7 percent) to €4,207m.
Exports increased from €55,705m to €56,767m (+2 percent) – - Organic chemicals increased from €10,256m to €11,205m (+9 percent), Essential oils (including flavouring materials) from €3,198m to €3,596m (+12 percent) and Petroleum and related materials from €203m to €326m (+60 percent).
Telecommunications and sound equipment decreased from €993m to €822m (-17 percent).
- Goods to Switzerland increased from €1,925m to €2,328m (+21 percent), to France from €3,247m to €3,642m (+12 percent) and to Spain from €1,568m to €1,950m (+24 percent).
Goods to Great Britain decreased from €8,887m to €8,599m (-3 percent), to the USA from €11,185m to €10,992m (-2 percent) and to Northern Ireland from €976m to €893m (-8 percent).
