Clothing retail sales up in Nov

National Bureau of Statistics of China announced the total retail sale of November 2005..

It stated that the total retail sale of consumer goods was 590.9 billion yuan in November, a rise of 12.4 percent as compared with the same month of last year.

In term of different regions, the retail sale of urban consumer goods was 388.0 billion yuan, rose 13.2 percent over the same month of previous year; for county and below county level, the total retail sale of consumer goods was 202.9 billion yuan, increase 10.9 percent.

In term of different industries, the retail sale of wholesale and retail trade sector was 492.6 billion yuan, increased by 12.5 percent as compared with the same month of last year; catering and beverage sector was 82.3 billion yuan, a rise of 14.5 percent; and other sectors was 16.0 billion yuan, a rise of 0.4 percent.

In term of different merchandises, the retail sale of wholesale and retail trade above designated size, the foodstuff, clothing and commodities rose by 12.5 percent, 17.6 percent and 24.3 percent respectively as compared with the same period of last year.

Of which, gain and oil rose by 41.6 percent; that of meat, poultry and eggs rose by 11.6 percent; that of garments, shoes and caps rose by 19.3 percent; that of culture and office facilities rose by 15.7 percent; that of sports and entertainment appliances rose by 18.9 percent; that of daily articles rose by 14.7 percent; that of household electrical appliances and AV facilities rose by 9.7 percent.

Cosmetics rose by 19.4 percent; that of furniture rose by 4.2 percent; that of construction and decoration material rose by 14.1 percent; that of jewelries rose by 15.0 percent; that of communication equipment rose by 32.0 percent; that of motor vehicles rose by 28.8 percent; that of petroleum and relative products rose by 35.2 percent.
