Pittsburgh based Global chemical leader NOVA Chemicals Corporation announced plans to shut down its Corunna, Ontario, ethylene manufacturing facility on December 28, 2005, for additional compressor seal repairs.
The shutdown follows a successful plant start-up and commercial production of ethylene and co-products after a maintenance and modernization outage. Production of the full slate of products is expected to resume in approximately 12 to 16 days.
NOVA Chemicals' Sarnia area polyethylene assets will also be shut down as a result of the Corunna outage. The company continues to work with all impacted customers.
