Hancock Fabrics same store sales decline 3.1%

Fabric wholesale merchant Hancock Fabrics Inc reported that sales in the five-week period ended April 1, 2006 totaled $36.5 million compared with $37.8 million for the same period of the prior year. Sales in comparable stores declined 3.1 percent in March.
In the first two months of fiscal 2006, total sales were $66.1 million versus $69.2 million in the same period of fiscal 2005, and comparable store sales declined 5.1 percent, including a 1.2 percent benefit from stores that are being liquidated in connection with store closing sale events.
