DAK, Nan Ya & Wellman to file anti-dumping petition against China

DAK Americas, Nan Ya Plastics Corp, America, and Wellman joined together to file an anti-dumping suit against China, claiming that the Chinese products were harming the domestic industry as they are extremely low-priced.

Companies have accused several Chinese importers of selling products at unfairly low prices and aggressive marketing that leaves the domestic firms gasping for survival.

Due to the high production and labour costs, domestic manufacturers cannot afford to price their products at Chinese product price levels.

As a result, several Chinese importers have increased their share in the US market.

Paul Rosenthal, lead counsel to the petitioners, told the media, "In just a few years, China has grown to be the number-one import source-country for certain polyester staple fiber, eclipsing even (South) Korea and Taiwan -- two countries whose imports are currently subject to anti-dumping duty orders in the US."

They also informed that the imports of the specified Chinese polyester fiber surged 161 percent between 2003 and 2005 and Chinese products accounted for 39 percent of all imports in the latest 12 month period.

DAK Americas is a globally competitive supplier of Terephthalic acid (TPA) -Monomers, Polyethylene Terephthalate Resins (PET) and Polyester Staple Fibers (PSF) for the western hemisphere.
