Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills unleashes Rs 200cr expansion plan

One of the leading textile companies in India, Suryalakshmi Cotton Mills (SCM) unveiled its plans to invest Rs 200 crore to expand its denim capacity.

The project is designed to raise denim production capacity from 25 million metres to 40 million metres in a year.

The company intends to establish an additional captive ring spinning facility (25 metric tons) to support denim operations besides putting latest technology in the existing spinning capacity.

The company is to put in additional 32,000 spindles capacity at Amanagallu unit in Andhra Pradesh state.

The company is also looking to set up a garment facility with investment of Rs 2 crore near the new international airport at Hyderabad, which is currently under construction. Commercial functioning of the unit is likely to begin by September 2005.

Further, the company plans invest Rs 300 crore in the year 2007-08 to accelerate its capacity.
