Specialty chemical supplier Cognis has received five awards from the League of American Communications Professionals (LACP) in recognition of the quality of its marketing communications.
The company's Synlubes Technology and Polymers, Coatings & Inks (PCI) business units both won gold in the 2005 Magellan Awards for their advertising campaigns, while Cognis also took a gold and two bronzes in the 2005 Spotlight Awards for print media.
The Magellan Awards are organized yearly by the LACP, recognizing the best advertising campaigns around the world, and this year, Synlubes Technology and Polymers, Coatings & Inks both received gold in the Business to Business category. The Spotlight Awards focus on corporate brochures and Cognis again picked up gold here, for a Synlubes brochure entitled “Liquid Power”. Furthermore, this brochure won bronze in the Best Visual Design category, and the PCI “Natural Outperformer” brochure also received a bronze award.
Scoring well in key categories The LACP judges each entry using a points system, and Cognis scored very highly in key categories such as first impression, message clarity, campaign execution and target audience definition. Indeed, in some of these categories, its entries achieved perfect scores, contributing to total scores of 91 out of a possible 100 for both the Synlubes Technology and the Polymers, Coatings & Inks campaigns. This placed them ahead of more than 400 other international entries for the Magellan Awards. In the Spotlight Awards, the PCI brochure got 93 points out of a possible 100 and the Synlubes brochure did even better, scoring 95.
