SGMA together with athletic footwear companies to measure US market

Sporting goods maker SGMA International to fabricate the most accurate study on the size of the athletic footwear market in the United States with several of the major athletic footwear companies working together with - July 11 2005. The end result of this initiative, which is coordinated by SGMA, is the U.S. Athletic Footwear Market Size Report.

The information in this report comes from manufacturers and distributors who report their sales into the U.S. retail sector by several different categories. Reports are issued on a quarterly basis and cover most footwear categories. This study also breaks down the data by price point and distribution channel. All the information submitted for this report is highly confidential and only the aggregated numbers are reported to the participating companies.

The initial reports covered 2004 shipments and the 1st quarter of 2005 report was recently issued to participating companies. All companies selling athletic footwear in any of the categories are invited to participate. The goal of the report is to account for at least 95% of the sales in each category of footwear.

The report is coordinated by the Sports Research Partnership (SRP) , the recently formed market research arm of SGMA International. The information is submitted to SRP, which is responsible for set-up, coordination, collecting data, and report production. The SRP is also responsible for maintaining strict confidentiality of the submitted data.
