Pantaloon Retail (India) Limited plans to raise the number of Big Bazaar superstores to 70 before 2008, with western India as target. Company is concentrating on Maharashtra and has scheduled stores for Kolhapur, Solapur, Aurangabad and Ahmednagar.
After opening second Big Bazaar store in Pune, Sadashiv Nayak, Pantaloon's Head (Western region) informed the media that currently company has 44 such outlets countrywide, which will be increased to 70 by end of this year.
Retail stores are in pipeline for Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Pune and Ahmedabad. These cities account for 66 percent of Pantaloon's Rs9,00,000 crore retail segment.
Five Big Bazaar outlets are planned for Pune alone.
