Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics to hold Yarn Expo

A Yarn Expo will be held at Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics during October 26–29, 2005 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre.

This new marketing platform for yarns and fibres in Shanghai
has roots in the fact that there is huge demand for yarns and fibres for both export and domestic use in China.

Answering strong demand from the local and international yarns
and fibres industry for an additional marketing platform in China's commercial centre, Messe Frankfurt, in conjunction with CCPIT-Tex, will host the first Yarn Expo in Shanghai.

The debut event will be held concurrently with Intertextile Shanghai Apparel Fabrics 2005 from 26 – 29 October 2005.

Yarn Expo first started in Beijing in 2004 and in two years has become the city's premier international product showcase focusing exclusively on yarns and fibres. Over 8,000 trade buyers from over 50 countries visited the show in Spring 2005 looking for the latest products for use in the manufacture of apparel and home textiles.

Now, suppliers from around the world will be able to benefit from the same quality meeting point in Shanghai, China's textile industry centre.

The success of Yarn Expo is largely due to China's huge appetite for fibres, yarns and fabrics for both export and domestic use. Chinese man-made fibre output rose by a dramatic 18% to over 11 million tons in 2004, representing one-third of world man-made fibre output.

China's impressive growth in man-made fibre production goes hand in hand with the expansion in its textile and clothing exports. The country's textile exports to Europe and the USA surged by 48 percent and 72 percent respectively in the first three months of 2005. On the other hand, China was forced to import more than US$14 billion worth of yarns and fabrics in 2003 in order to sustain these huge export levels. This made China the world's third biggest importer of textiles after the European Union and the USA.
