Ruddick Corporation reported consolidated sales for the third fiscal quarter ended July 3, 2005 increased by 6.7 percent to $750 million from $703 million in the prior year quarter. For the 39 weeks ended July 3, 2005, sales of $2.21 billion were 5.5 percent above the $2.10 billion for the comparable period last year. The increase in sales for the quarter, and fiscal year to date, was attributable to sales improvements at both the Harris Teeter supermarket subsidiary and the American & Efird sewing thread subsidiary.
