With interest rates going sky high and families disposable incomes at an all time low*, this year is looking set to be one of the hardest Christmas in the last decade.
With only 97 shopping days left until Christmas, ASDA (19th September) has re-launched its Christmas Savings card, giving families a helping hand saving this Christmas.
The Christmas Savings card provides customers with a simple and secure way to save money for Christmas.
It looks like a credit card and if it is lost or stolen, the card can be immediately de-activated and, if customers keep hold of their receipt, a new card will be issued with the balance transferred.
After the collapse of Farepak last year, ASDA is pledging to place all savings in a secure fund, reassuring customers that saving for Christmas now is the right thing to do.
Customers only need to save £144 on their card by 19th November to qualify for the tax-free bonus of 4.2%, which is automatically added to the value of the card on the next day. The 4.2% rate rivals many bank and building societies as is not calculated over the year.
David Martin Head of New Business at ASDA, explains:
“This year we're driving down the cost of Christmas for all of our customers. Our Christmas Savings Card has to be one of the easiest ways to make your pound stretch that little bit further this year. Putting money on your card could not be easier all you need to do is swipe the amount you want to save and away you go.”
