DAF felicitates 64 meritorious students from 7 districts of Gujarat

Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation (DAF) felicitated 64 meritorious students of SSC and HSC from seven districts of Gujarat at Ahmedabad Textile Industry Research Association (ATIRA)'s auditorium.

Mrs Paru Jaykrishna, President, Gujarat Chambers of Commerce and Industry was the Chief Guest and Dr. Bhushan Punanai, Executive Director, Blind People's Association, Ahmedabad delivered a theme talk on 'Students Participation in Social Service' on this occasion.

This was the twelfth annual function of DAF on October 29, 2007 at 04.00 p.m. The first three meritorious students and one under physically challenged category, from each of the districts of Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Banaskantha, Patan and Surendranagar at the SSC and HSC examinations received Dhirubhai Ambani SSC Merit Reward or the Undergraduate Scholarship at the function.

Mr. Anand Parekh, President, Textile Division, Reliance Industries Ltd., Naroda welcomed the guests on this occasion. Mr. Arun Bhende, the Foundation Trustee proposed a vote of thanks. Mr. Parimal Nathwani, Group President – Corporate Affairs of Reliance Industries Limited also remained present on the occasion.

The SSC Merit Reward consists of Rs. 3000/-, a good quality bicycle, Rs. 6000/- for Physically Challenged and a certificate from the Trustees of the Foundation.

The Undergraduate Scholarships for HSC students depend upon the course chosen for further studies and ranges between Rs. 9,750/- and Rs. 31,500/- per annum for the entire duration of study leading to degree/diploma, subject to maintaining consistent academic performance.

The objective of Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation is to inculcate sense of responsibility towards society amongst students. Large number of students, their parents and teachers attended the function. A cultural program was presented on this occasion by the young artists from Morli Group.
