Sympatex presents world's first 100% recyclable laminate

Sympatex Technology presents the world's first 100 percent recyclable laminate that delivers 100 % performance.

The current innovation from Sympatex Technology is called Ecocycle-SL. A milestone in laminate technology, it is the first laminate on the market that can be completely recycled. For several years Sympatex Technology is producing a membrane that is 100 percent recyclable. Now, the Munich-based company has managed to bond this membrane with an upper and lining material that is also 100 percent reusable.

This new upper and lining material of the laminate construction is made of recycled polyester and is bonded with the membrane without using solvents. The result is the world's first sustainably manufactured and recyclable laminate featuring the high-tech performance of the Sympatex membrane.

The new laminate was presented for the first time at the ispo Sport & Style trade show this year and promptly nominated for the newly launched ispo Eco Award. Ecocycle-SL was one of the finalists and was exhibited in the BrandNew hall at ispo Sport & Style.

Since its foundation, Sympatex Technology has been a proponent of environmental friendliness and sustainability. During the 80s and 90s, the company developed EcoLog, a system for collecting and recycling clothing to ensure that products are used sustainably. Sympatex Technology has its own ecological profile for its membrane, developed especially for the company by Ian Boustead, an expert for environmental audits in the chemical industry.
