”We know that our JJ ECO initiative is only a step on the way”, Anders Gam underlines, ”but we cannot make our entire collection organic and of Max Havelaar labelled cotton overnight. However, we believe it's better to do something than nothing at all. We feel that this initiative is a step in the right direction”.
”It is important for us to emphasise that other Jack & Jones and Bestseller products, which have not received this certification, are also produced after stringent environmental standards. In Bestseller, we have a Code of Conduct which is directed at any supplier and his subcontractors who manufacture products for Bestseller or for any of Bestseller's companies."
"It sets out the basic requirements that any supplier must comply with in order to do business with Bestseller. It covers areas such as the use of chemicals in the production, the production process in general, and the working conditions in the factories”, Anders Gam explains.
With JJ ECO we now take it one step further, and we hope to be able to extend the JJ ECO collection in the future”.
Max Havelaar, also called Fairtrade, is an international certification. The certification guarantees that some of the world's poorest farmers and workers receive a fair price for the cotton and that they work under good working conditions. The production is environmentally friendly, and the certification is found on products such as bananas, honey, juice, cocoa, cane sugar, tea, and wine.
