Nov '08
The Filter Division of Freudenberg Nonwovens will be reorganized as an independent Business Group in the Freudenberg Group and given the new name of "Freudenberg Filtration Technologies" effective January 1, 2009.

The new Freudenberg Filtration Technologies Business Group will further expand business in air, gas and liquid filtration by offering innovative filtration solutions. This reorganization will allow Freudenberg Filtration Technologies to focus even closer on meeting the needs of its customers.

The new Business Group is to push ahead with intensifying global services and project business in the industrial filtration segment.

Dr. Jörg Sievert and Dr. Andreas Kreuter, the former Managing Directors of the Filter Division, will head the management team at Freudenberg Filtration Technologies. The new Business Group will be headquartered in Weinheim. Approximately 1,200 associates at 34 sites around the world will manufacture and market filters as well as offering services.

Freudenberg filters and filtration technology are already used in many industrial applications, particularly in the form of micronAir® cabin air filters for the automotive industry and Viledon® brand intake air and exhaust air filters as well as for liquid filtration.

"The filtration business is an area of strategic growth with its own business model within the Freudenberg Group", Dr. Jörg Sievert explained. "For our customers, the only change is the name of their supplier. They will continue to enjoy the same high standards of quality and reliability."

Dr. Andreas Kreuter added: "Concern for clean air and clean liquids is one of the central challenges facing society today and even more so in future. Freudenberg already offers convincing solutions which improve the efficiency of many industrial processes, preserve resources, protect our environment and enhance the quality of life. At Freudenberg Filtration Technologies, we will successfully build on this spectrum of products and services."

Business at the Interlinings, Spunlaid and Industrial Nonwovens Divisions of Freudenberg Nonwovens remains unchanged. "Freudenberg Nonwovens continues to be the world's leading nonwovens manufacturer for numerous applications," Bruce Olson, CEO Freudenberg Nonwovens, commented. "We have a broad technology portfolio which we will be using to expand present business."

Freudenberg Nonwovens is the world's leading nonwovens manufacturer with 23 production sites in 13 countries. The company develops and produces interlinings for apparel, filters, nonwovens for automotive, building and construction, shoes, textile and upholstery, hygiene and medical as well as many other industrial applications.

Freudenberg Nonwovens is part of the Freudenberg Group, a family company which generates sales of 5.5 billion euros and employs over 34,500 associates in its four business areas of Nonwovens, Seals and Vibration Control Technology, Household Products and Chemical Specialties.
