Textile giant S Kumars intends to launch six new international (Intl) brands into the country. Company is focusing on lasting partnerships with international brands, said Nitin Kasliwal, Managing Director, S. Kumars Nationwide Ltd.

For now, company is in discussion with nearly 18 brands but proposes to launch five or six brands. This would involve creation of manufacturing facilities to deliver to the region and market the brand as a master franchise.

At present, S Kumars supplies its textiles to international retail players like Marks & Spencers and Debenhams, and other reputed brands like Hagger, Slates, and Lord & Taylor. The company could bring in these brands into the country, since it is already engaged in a business relationship with them.

S Kumars will form marketing and business partnerships with brands, which will be a blend of luxury and premium brands. Company could also become a base for supplying these brands to stores overseas and at the same time help them establish their own stores in the country, stated Kasliwal.

Meanwhile, the company wants to venture into denims, terry towels, knitwear and even lingerie.

The company is also to introduce more brand ambassadors for its brands. Company still feels that using celebrities is the most effective way to get brand recall.

For Reid & Taylor, company experienced an immediate 40 percent growth in sales after Amitabh Bachchan started endorsing the brand, said Kasliwal.

With the plan to get into every sector of the price/value chain, the company is likely to record a 25 percent growth on a year-on-year basis to record a turnover of Rs 1,800 crore in the next three years.
