LNJ Denim to expand capacity

LNJ Denim, a subsidiary of Rs. 50 billion LNJ Bhilwara Group, recently revealed its plan to invest Rs. 3.5 billion to enhance its cotton yarn and fabric production capacity over next three years.

Y. C. Gupta, Chief Executive and Business Head, LNJ Denim stated that, they are investing in capacity expansion which would help them to meet the rising demand for their products in the local as well as international markets.

Gupta stated that, a number of leading internal denim brands including Gap, Ralph Lauren, Diesel, Lee, Marlboro Classic and Levi's source fabrics from LNJ, and added that, once the expansion of their Rajasthan's Banswara based unit concludes, they expect to touch six billion rupees in revenues by 2014-15, up from Rs. 1.8 billion in 2010-11.

He said that, in coming three to four years, LNG Denim's share in denim market is expected to grow to five percent.

Further, LNJ Denim has also launched its new range of denims, which besides being water and fire resistant fabric also includes denims in 65 exclusive shades. With launch of this new range, the firm is eyeing its exports to climb from present 50 percent to 65 percent of its overall sales, over next two to three years.

Gupta revealed that, New York fire department is one of the clients for their fire resistant fabric, while they are also in talks with several state governments in India to persuade them to make use of this fabric, he added.

He stated that, not only they have sizeably invested in research and development work but have also engaged foreign designers for preparing unique denim collections.
