China's textile & apparel exports down 2.2% in Q1 2019

The exports of textiles and apparel from China decreased by 2.2 per cent to $56.330 billion in the first three months of 2019, according to the provisional statistics released by the China General Administration of Customs. While textile exports rose 3.9 per cent to $26.900 billion, apparel exports dipped 6.5 per cent to $29.430 billion.

China’s textiles and clothing exports grew by a sharp 28.2 per cent year-on-year in March 2019 to $18.181 billion. Category-wise, textile exports jumped 35.6 per cent to $9.524 billion, while that of garments were up 20.9 per cent to $8.657 billion, the Customs data showed. (RKS)
