Textile & garments industry dilemma after abolition of textile quota

Readymade garments industry in the UAE, along many factories in Dubai, Sharjah and Ajman has been suffering from dreadful stage due to ending of Multi Fibre Agreement.

Domestic producers are not able to compete with cheap Chinese exports that surge the markets all around the world. lots of factories, owned the Indian garment players wind up their businesses return back to their home countries to obtain benefits of cheap manpower and operating cost.

The industry calculate approximately, 30 to 40 percent of garment makers in the UAE have transferred business out of the country in the past two years and more are expected to be shiftes soon.

Garment manufacturers urges support from the government, as industry accounts significant contribution to the economy of UAE.
