Govt to boost garment industry by providing 6% R&D support

In order to support Textile Garment Units manufacturing and exporting textile garments, the Government Of Pakistan has decided to provide financial support under the research and development account head.
The support to the tune of 6 percent of the FOB value of the exports to EU and USA will help exporters in product development, skill development and training, up-gradation of information technology and professional consultancy.
As per the press release issued by State Bank of Pakistan on Saturday, only those exporters will be eligible for the support whose shipments have been made on or after April 12, 2005 under Chapter 61 and 62 of the Pakistan Customs Tariff.
Further, the release informs that the exporting unit must be a member of any of the associations registered with the Director, Trade Organization (DTO), Ministry of Commerce, PRGMEA, PHMA, PAKSEA and PCFAMEA.
