In the first nine months this year, export turnover of Hai Phong Port City reached US$883 million, fulfilling 73 percent of its set target of 2007 and recording a year–on–year growth of 26.8 percent.
Local experts believe that the city may earn export revenue of over $1 billion this year, if the last quarter maintains a high growth rate.
Major currency earning products include textile and garment for $84.4 million, footwear for $263.4 million, and electronics at $40.5 million, among others.
Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) accounts for the biggest contribution of total exports turnover of the city,showing an increase of 48 percent compared to previous year. Products worth $420.7 million were shipped representing a rise of 37 percent from same period 2006.
