Belying all expectations, Indian exports of synthetic and rayon textiles has not matched its cotton sector success, so far.
Compared to last year same month (August), exports crossed Rs 6.858 billion registering a sharp 17.9 percent drop.
Cumulative April-August 2005 figures accounted for Rs 29.02 billion that showed massive fall of 26.39 percent in comparative terms.
While blended polyester/viscose and polyester/cotton fabric exports slowed, overall fabrics shared 49 percent of all exports in August.
However, it was a massive 91 percent drop in exports recorded in case of viscose spun fabric exports during August that put in a shade all other export performance figures.
Exports of polyester filament fabric recorded a sharp decline at 40 percent in August earning only Rs 1.654 billion.
Emerging trends indicate that the United Arab Emirates head the list among largest export markets of Indian synthetic fibre textile.
