At an open house organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) in Rajkot, Gujarat, the Zonal Director General of Foreign Trade, Mr Shailesh Singh urged exporters from the textile sector not to depend on stimulus package only, but to find a way out of the recessionary trends.
He said Gujarat has been at the forefront for exports from India and that it has been a policy of the government to encourage exports of finished products rather than raw materials and advised exporters to increase the foreign exchange earnings by shipping value added products.
Among others who spoke at the open house was Vishal Chiripal, convener of the Gujarat Chapter of FIEO who said that in spite of the recessionary trends, exporters from the state have been able to stand firm against the slowdown and trying hard to maintain export levels.
