Chanthol, also the first vice chairman of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), made the announcement at the China-Cambodia Cooperation Forum 2023 held in Shenzhen.
The forum was organised by the Global Logistics Alliance, a network of over 5,000 carriers from more than 170 countries.
Sixty per cent of Cambodia’s workforce is under 25, a valuable resource for prospective investment firms, he stated.
The country also wants to bolster collaborations with global partners, he was quoted as saying by Cambodian media reports.
China and Cambodia have chalked out an action plan for building a “community of common destiny in the new era 2024-28”, encompassing sectors like economy, trade, politics and culture.
The government’s infrastructure development initiatives further solidify the country’s commitment to fostering investor mobility and transport, he added.
Despite significant domestic involvement, the country’s transport sector requires more foreign capital in advanced technology and enhanced infrastructure, including warehousing and cold-storage facilities, Sin Chanthy, president of the Cambodia Logistics Association, said.
Chea Chandara, president of the Logistics and Supply Chain Business Association in Cambodia, feels modernisation of the domestic transport sector is essential as the current infrastructure is insufficient.
