China has seen an 8 per cent year-on-year (YoY) increase in waterway cargo transport for the first eight months of 2023, according to data from the ministry of transport. The total volume for the January-August period was 6.02 billion tonnes.In August 2023, 811.51 million tonnes of cargo were transported. The country’s Heilongjiang province led in year-on-year growth, with a 35.2 per cent increase, followed by Liaoning Province and Shaanxi Province.
