Back to school sales down by $ 39bn over last year

In a survey commissioned by the National Retail Federation and conducted by BIG Research, claimed that clothing and accessories spend by US consumers reached $6.2 billion this year.
Among the other spends on back to school items were shoes ($2.7 billion), school supplies ($2.5 billion) and electronics ($2.06 billion).
The total consumer spend of $443.7 billion this year registered a drop from a peak $483.28 billion, spent last year.
Survey covered 6487 respondent, informs the NRF website.
